Reef - Jamaican Restaurant

Do you have any idea of Jamaican food? To be honest, I have no idea about Jamaican food before I went to this restaurant, Reef, which is located at 4172 Main St., Vancouver. Jamaican food has really tropical flavor, a little bit spicy and kind of light flavor.

When I arrived, the tables had been set already. All menus had been placed on the table, and all glasses had been filled with water already. Because it was lots of us, it always takes time to read menu, but the waitress knew the right time to take our order. When we were almost ready to order, she came. That’s pretty impressive. Also, she gave us some advice about the meal, and it was really good advice.

By the time, about 1:30 pm, there weren’t too many costumers. Some were families and some looked like office workers. The restaurant looked very tropical. Lots of bamboo was used as upholstery, and also some ceiling fans were also used. It was a really relaxing place, and chatting out loud is never a problem.
The price was very friendly, approx $10. Salad and sandwiches were served at lunch time. Breakfast was also served until 3 pm. Both spicy and non-spicy meals were offered. All the foods were fresh made, and none of us has to wait their meal, meals were almost served at the same time.

I asked for the “The Jerks and Caicos”. It was a sandwich wrap served with salads. The salad was very special. Pumpkin seeds were added, and the salad was dressed by olive oil. Pumpkin seeds were perfect match with lettuce. On the other hand, the wrap was also good. It was a chicken wrap. Chicken was very soft and with rich and spicy sauce. The sauce wasn’t too spicy. If you think it’s not spicy enough, there is a spicy sauce that you can add as much as you want. I also ordered “The Original Get Juiced Punch”, which is a cocktail. It was a drink that 3 ounce rum mixed with some tropical juice, such as lemon and Sunkist. It was a really cool drink especially in summer.

Over all, it was such a good experience to me. All my order cost me $26, $10 each before tax. I strongly recommend this restaurant. It has a great cost performance index.
